Vålerenga Trolls is a sport club for American Football/tackle football with home field at Jordal. As of today, this field is unavailable due to the construction of a new hockey arena for Vålerenga Hockey and therefor practices in spring/summer/fall takes place at Kampen by Kampen elementary school. In the winter season practices are at the heated artificial turf next to Vallhall at Helsfyr. We look forward to returning to our home field in 2020/2021.
The club consists of more than 200 active members, and the players age starts from 10 years old and up to senior players. We recruit local players and those interested in the sport, and run the club on voluntary basis with eager parents and retired players on the board and as part of the coach forces.
Vålerenga Trolls are now looking for new head coach for our women’s team. Someone who can take the team even further. You will be working in a team with other position coaches and a team leader.
The women team consists of a group of 15-20 players. Their experience with American football varies from 4+ years to six months. The age of the players ranges from 18 up to 40 years old. This group of women knows each other well and the team spirit is described as very high. The women in Trolls won the women series the first season it was arranged for women in Norway in 2015. They repeated the success the following season. In 2017 and 2018 there was unfortunately not enough teams to run a full series for women and the first 7players tournament was arranged instead. Here too the women in Trolls made it among the best teams. In 2018 they also participated in tournaments in other Scandinavian countries.
In short, this is a great group of women that work hard and train hard. Practice runs twice a week, each practice last two hours.
We are looking for you who have good knowledge of American football, and preferably has some coaching background. At the same time, you need to have the time and desire to get involved with a committed women’s team and an exciting club where both players, coaches and managers are working together to further develop and improve our players. By personal attributes, we emphasize that you must have commitment, that you are motivated, can cooperate with other coaches and staff, are structured and disciplined.
